Going to Bali
Last month, my students and I
went to Bali for holiday.
On the first
day, we visited Tanah Lot Temple before we checked in a hotel. In Tanah Lot we
watched a lot of snakes. People there thought that the snakes were holy. A
guide showed us the snakes. He used a flashlight to make them easy to
watch.
From Tanah Lot
we went the hotel. After we did some washing, we enjoyed our first lunch at the
hotel. Then we went to Kuta Beach and Besakih Temple.
On the second
day, we visited bedugul. We spent almost the whole day boating on the lake and
some of our friends tried to fly using parasite. Then we left the island for home.
Although we
felt tired, we were happy and satisfied.
The
above text called “recount text”. The
goal/purpose of this text is retell past
experience. The characteristic of this text, of course, uses Past tense. How
about the generic structure of the text? Look at this following text.

My most interesting vacation was a travel
to Lombok.
I
went there last academic holiday with my parents, sister and uncle. We went
to Lombok by car. Do you know who drove the car?
We left Solo for Lombok at 05.00 p.m. My
uncle, Mr. Bob drove the car quickly but carefully. However, my father, Mr.
Colin, drove the car when my uncle felt tired. We arrived in Ketapang harbor,
Banyuwangi at 05.00 a.m.. Then we crossed the Bali strait for about half hour
to Gilimanuk harbor in Bali. Then we went
to Padang Bay harbor Bali to cross Lombok strait for about four hours
to Lembar harbor in Lombok, we arrivrd in Lombok at 5 p.m of the next day.
My father took us to a hotel first.
We had to take a rest before doing the
order activities. We slept in Holiday Inn
in Senggigi, it was a place where we transited before going any where.
Travelling in Lombok for a week, we
thought not enough. We could only visit several places like Senggigi beach,
Gili trawangan beach, Batubalong beach, Narmade swimming pool, Ampenan
traditional market, Sesaut protected forest, and so on.
Really, spending holiday in Lombok was very tiring, but it was very
satisfying.
