Indonesian Legend.....

It seems not fair if I only give the readers narrative from aboard. Here it is "The Indonesian Legend"

Calon Arang

Calon Arang was a widow. She had a beautiful daughter called Ratna Manggali. Because she was an old witch, no one wanted to marry her daughter. Calon Arang became angry. She made an offering to Betari Durga the goddess of destruction, to ask for a permission to destroy the land. She began to dance and suddenly the country was swept by pestilence. Priest Baradah knew it. He sent his son, Bahula to marry Ratna Manggali. Bahula finally obtained the secret of the magic power through the help of his wife. When the priest had learnt all the secrets, he went to the country to cure the sick, brought the death back to life, and restored the life to the country. When Calon Arang knew it, she came to fight the Priest. A battle occured. The priest finally won the battle.
That is the story of the calon arang dance in Bali. In the dance Calon Arang is wearing a big fighting mask with her long sharp snails and the priest is followed by the Barong (a sacred animal) with its followers. The most exiting parts of the dance is when the followers suddenly stab themselves with the kerises they carry, but still remain unharmed
